Welcome to the second issue of Starving Vendors Magazine. Click here to read the February issue. Hope all of you enjoyed reading it and I am trying to get an issue out every month. I didn't do any shows for two months but as the weather is getting better, things will get rolling. Thank you. Dave

FUN WITH WORDS Vendor Terminology Ghost Town. A term used to describe a show that has a very small crowd. Usually occurs around 4:00PM at many festivals. Example: Man, it's like a ghost town over here.
Never coming back here. A term used by vendors when they have an extremely bad show. Unfortunately many vendors do eat those words the following year when they return because they have no other choice for that particular weekend |

| MY FAVORITE FOODS BURRITO'S ![]() One of my favorite foods are burrito's. A number of year's ago (like 20?) we had a Burrito Shop over on my side of Hayward and we used to go there every so often. They closed down and a check cashing place moved in. Approximately ten year's ago we were doing one of Marg-ett's shows at a small rinky dink mall over in Redwood City and we were located in front of a Mexican Burrito place and decided to try them. The name of the place was Taqueria Mar Y Tierra. (1475 Broadway in Redwood City) Got one of their Super Burrito's and it was fantastic. Big. Huge, Delicious. From that day on, we were hooked on the place and went over there several times during the year. Quite often, when we were driving in the area, we always made it a point to stop there and load up. More recently, I discovered Chipotle's over in Fremont on Paseo Padre. Went in there with my son and got one of their steak burrito's and it was pretty darn good. A lot of people don't like the 'chain' burrito's but these are decent. You custom order it by picking out the ingredients as you move along the line. Have been to the Chipotle's over in Castro Valley also. They have them all over the place, including Alameda. We tried La Imperial over here in Hayward on B Street and I was a bit disappointed in it. Got the Super but it just wasn't that. Not my kind of burrito. |

2010 BURNING VENDOR FESTIVAL
Held in the Mojave Desert, 10 miles East of Boron just off Highway 58. ![]() I am sure you have heard of the 'Burning Man' festival which is held out in the Nevada desert north west of Reno. Well, we now have the 3rd Annual Burning Vendor Festival and that will be held from Oct 13-17, 2010. Join several hundred thousand other vendors from all over the United States at this fun and spiritual event. The big, defining moment of this festival occurs on the final day when vendors toss their non-selling items into a big gigantic bonfire, which can be seen for over 300 miles. These fires have reportedly been seen through the Hubbell telescope in space and the shots were beamed back to earth. We have posters of this on sale for $29.95. There's lots of action beforehand, as vendors begin arriving a couple days before the event starts as they secure their locations in the desert. Join in the fun as thousands of vendors burn effigies of their least favorite promoters as they tell their stories about how they were screwed over and charged exorbitant fees as the promoters attempted to rake every cent from their wallets. Be sure to bring your old, broken down COSTCO canopies as we can take them apart and re-cycle the metal and plastic parts or we can use those parts to create structures within the show. Old canopy covers can be used for shelter in one |
