       COMPUTING TIP

Computer Repair

How many of us end up using our computer's in darkened spaces?  I do quite often.  The keyboards on these laptops/notebooks sometimes are not easy to use and I often have a difficult time finding the keys.  I know how to type, but my fingers tend to wander off a bit.  In order to see my keyboard in the dark, I tilt the screen downward to shed some light in that direction.  It works fine.

BOK KAI PARADE
AND FESTIVAL
,
Marysville, CA
March 20, 2010

The Bok Kai Festival, honoring Bok Eye, the Chinese God of Water, pays tribute to the many Chinese who worked the gold mines in the 1800s. The rare Bok Kai Temple, recently listed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the country's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, came to be a symbol of gratitude and hope for the Chinese who had left their homeland with hopes for a better life in America. On the first day, the event includes a small town parade with a multi-cultural aspect, children's activity and Food and Craft Vendor areas. The second day is the Chinese Bomb Day activity. Join us at the Bok Kai Festival March 20, 2010.

TIME CAPSULE:

1980 VANCOUVER
SEA FAIR

When I watched the Olympics and they showed panoramas of the area, I recalled our many trips there over the years. In July 1980, our family took a trip there and had a wonderful time in Vancouver taking in the sights and doing the tourist things.  This was the first time I ever saw vendor's booths, i.e. canopies.  They were having their annual Seafair and it was quite crowded all over the place.  Lots of advertising; radio, TV, signage, etc. Little did I know that eventually my wife and I would have done around 500 shows later on beginning in 1993.

CHECK-INN CARD

There are a number of vendor's out there that utilize the services of the Check-Inn Card whereby you can get discounts on a number of motels throughout the area.  I haven't used the card but I know a number of vendor's out there in the trenches who have used the service.  It work's.  After you sign up, you will receive your card in about a week.  You can make your reservations on line with one of the motels that accepts the card.  When you arrive there, you present your card and later, the service will deduct the room rate from your debit/credit card.

GROUPIES SWARM ROCK DEALER IN MONTEREY
.

Many years ago, I walked through a gem show at the fairgrounds in Monterey and this dealer actually told me that he had 'groupies' that followed him.  I thought it was quite funny.  This was way before I considered ever doing shows. Excellent story line.  That's where I got the idea for this little piece.  Everything here is ficticious.

Monterey, CA  As Jason Ringsby drove his beat-up 1978 orange van through the gates of the fairgrounds, he was able to escape from the reaching arms of over 200 screaming girls who had followed him in their cars from his previous show in Sacramento.  With many of them running up to the fence and yelling at him, Jason drove past the security guard and proceeded to the space that had been reserved for him to prepare for this weekend's gem and mineral show.  He is truly a rock star and noted expert in his field.

Widely known for his awesome stone jewelry and minerals, Jason has a strong following of young ladies who tail him from one location to another buying from him wherever he goes.  Occasionally, some of these ladies will strip down in front of his booth and toss their undergarments at him.  "I've got 5 boxes of panties and bras," exclaimed Jason with a huge smile on his face. "I'm thinking about putting them on my counter and selling them."
