April 19-20, 2008 Lemoore, CA
Gosh....how the
heck do I get stuck with these doozies. This place is
located between Hwys 5 and 99, approx 30 miles southwest of
Fresno. Unable to get a motel room in Lemoore, I made
reservations in Fresno at Motel 6. (That is another story)
We set up on Sat AM on the street. Nice space....15 foot
frontage and 12 feet deep. As the morning went along, I
noticed that there were very few actual vendors...maybe 6
selling merchandise and around 35 others. I asked several
if they had done the show previously and they all replied with a
'no'. I replied with a 'uh uhhhhh....that doesn't sound
too good.'
There were a total of 4 pizza vendors mixed in with other food
booths. Crowds were light in the morning, but picked up as
the day went along. However, not too many spending money.
Yes....another doozey of a show. Can't blame the promoters
for this. People just not buying. They spent their
money on food, carni rides, etc.
There were loads of kids skateboarding up and down the street in
front of the booths, behind the booths, around the booths...
all over the #($*#$ place. Nobody tried to stop them as
they were quite a nuisance.
Only did this event because I had nothing scheduled and with
the nice weather.....well.... oh well. I had talked to a
lot of my fellow vendors the previous week's and did not get good
recommendations about doing this event. So, my friends and
fellow vendors.....STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS ONE NEXT YEAR
and the year after and the year after.
I for one, am not coming back here. Nothing great about
the pizzas either....Domino's...Boston, etc. Regular chain
pizza. Nothing special.
At least they should beef up the event with some kind of
contests...pizza eating contest, world's largest pizza, a
pizza-tossing contest. I guess that they had some kind o
pizza-eating contest, but I was unaware of it. Dunno.
Tell me, what else can these people do out
here....have a NOTHING FESTIVAL? Had to think of
something. They have nothing out here, so just have a
Nothing Festival. That's what they are good at.
