A few years back, we were visiting niece's family in Blue Bell, PA. When it came to dinnertime on the day we were there, my nieces' husband, Jim, Knowing how much I loved Philly CheeseSteaks, drove over to Pudge's and picked up 6 or 7 large sandwiches for all of us.
When he returned, I was starving, having been thinking about the sandwich. I opened mine up and it was huge....lots of meat, cheese and with lots of onions on top. It looked great...it smelled great. As I bit into the sandwich, I chewed slowly, enjoying every bite of it. I had eaten many cheesesteaks over the years and hadn't had one this good since we ate at the Farmer's Market in LA. a long time ago. Very similar to this, but I really have to say that this cheesteak I was eating had to be the best ever. Nothing can really compare to it anywhere. Even in California, nothing comes close. That was a sandwich we would be talking about for years and I would have to wait a long time to eat another sandwich from this place, since we live on the West Coast, 2700 miles from Pudge's. And it is this cheesesteak that I compare all the other's I eat with. Nothing close yet.

The name "Pudge" came from the original owner, Frank Carbone, who was nicknamed as a child after the dog in the Betty Boop comic strip. After Pudge's death in 2000, the shop was taken over by his daughter. Pudge's has won numerous awards over the years. 'Best of Philly' award winner, and this year was named 'Best Cheesesteak in Montgomery County'. Numerous celebrities visit Pudge's and consider us their favorite cheesesteak
Pudge's uses only the best meats. We cook our own roast beef and pork, and we make our own meatballs. Our lunch meats are Dietz & Watson premium grade. Our steak meat comes from Altieri & Sons who provide the highest quality steak on the market.

Reviews from the Internet:
PUDGE'S IS A GREAT PLACE TO EAT AT ANYTIME ON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. I LOVE THEIR EMPLOYEES, I FIND THAT OF ALL THE PLACES I GO, PUDGE'S HAS THE BEST CHEESESTEAKS.. ITS A SHAME THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS DON'T FEEL THE SAME WAY. ITS EVEN WORSE THAT A GROWN MAN WOULD WASTE HIS TIME POSTING RUDE COMMENTS ABOUT PEOPLE HE DOESN'T EVEN PERSONALLY KNOW. I BET THAT GUY COULDN'T LAST A MINUTE WORKING AT PUDGES.. I BET HIS LAZY BUM HASNT DONE ANY HARD LABOR A DAY IN HIS LIFE. SO FOLKS, GET OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND GO FOR A RUN!!!!!!!!!
I have been going to Pudge's since I was little. My mom has worked their almost my whole life! I have never been able to find a cheesesteak that even comes close to this one! The person that said their rolls are 2 different sizes is crazy. The large is 18 inches the small is 12 inches! So unless you are ordering 2 different things you get what you pay for. So come in and try them out. You will not be disapointed! Tommy the cook makes the best cheesesteak ever!!!!! And the Hoagies are pretty darn good too:)
I grea up right accross the street from Pudges' and now living in lancaster county, my family and I STILL make a point to get a steak from Pudge's. Besides the amazing fact that they LOAD the steaks, they actually melt the cheese into the meat, making a perfect balance of meat and cheese melted together. I drool every time I think of their steaks. They use fresh, quality ingredients, so you won't find any unwanted surprises in your lunch. -and a trick to reheat your pudge, take it apart, reheat the meat and toast the roll-
had my first cheesesteak from "Pudge" the other day. Heck of a drive from Philly (so much cars). I was curious all day that i was eating it. It was HUGE, but what kind of beef was that? It was stringy and tuff. It was just average. Im not sure if it was worth the trip to get a cheesesteak.
best cheesesteak outside of philly and better than the namesakes - jims, pats, genos, etc. bring a friend because the sandwiches are huge. folks around the country have even had pudge's cheesesteaks fedxed to them they love it so much. a big miss it's not usually on the best cheesesteak in philadelphia magazine's annual list.
