-               RINCONADA HILLS BAZAAR

Mar 28. 2009.  Rinconada Hills Center Bazaar, Los Gatos, CA

We had a free weekend, so we decided upon this one-day event.  A friend of mine informed me about it and I told another.

Arrived there just after 7:00AM.  Short drive for us...about 45 minutes.

It was held at a strip mall in Los Gatos on Pollard Street, off the beaten path.  I can't understand why they would place a mall in this area as opposed to farther down near Winchester Blvd.  If their idea was to locate a mall within a community of homes, than that is what they did.  You are probably not going to get a lot of 'outsiders' visiting this mall, which consists of perhaps 15 businesses.  Longs, Safeway, Round Table Pizza, a donut shop, a sushi restaurant and several more businesses.

The weather was absolutely beautiful.  Upon arriving, we were greeted by the promoter, Nada Kennon, who was having her first event here and will be held the last Saturday  of each month.  She showed us to our space, which was decent sized and fully accessible from the three sides.   She also had a booth prominately displayed used as her 'office' and she made herself accessible throughout the event.  She walked through the show many times checking up on the vendors.  You do not see too many promoters doing this.

It took us about 2 1/2 hours to set up.  The main draw for this center is the Safeway store over in the opposite corner and draws a neighborhood crowd.  A good number of the people visiting the mall did stroll through the 21 vendor booths set up.  There were 4-5 vendors  selling 'antiques' along with quite a bit of jewelry and a few booths with other items.  Sales were slow for a good many of us.  I had a number of items for children, but I didn't really see that many there.  I think that the show will continue to grow through the months as visitors to the mall spread the word about the event.  As time goes on, you might see a good number of 'local vendors' selling here along with those of us who commonly do the 2-3 day events decide to fill in with a one-day show.

Nada was very easy to get along with and possesses a lot of good qualities that you want to see in a promoter and you can see that she is quite vendor-friendly.  Here's a listing of some of the vendors.  Delightul afternoon entertainment was provided by Fontain's M.U.S.E.
